  • Christmas Events

    Mon 29 Nov 2021 M.Wells

I have come to the difficult decision not to go ahead with this year's Christmas Fayre as planned. Our current levels of infections are extremely low; whereas in the past I may have implemented measures in order to stem rising infections, on this occasion I am doing this to keep infections low and protect our staff, children & community.

The Christmas Raffle will now be drawn during the school hours on Friday 10th December. A live link will be shared closer to the time for anyone wanting to watch it live; the raffle will be drawn with a live audience too. Ticket sales are extended until Tuesday 7th December (via ParentPay - no cash sales please) with ticket numbers being sent out on Wednesday 8th December. Winners will be notified by email no later than Sunday 12th December.

We will be re-organising the children's stalls and will let you know shortly what the plan will be for this. Please don't donate cakes now for the Christmas Fayre... unless you want staff to have them! Our children continue to rehearse their Christmas performances; I will keep you updated on any decisions that may affect the attendance of this. The children's Christmas Disco is still going ahead as planned; we will notify parents/carers about drop

off/pick up procedures closer to the time.

As research into this new variant continues, we will keep a daily eye on the data and take decisions accordingly. As anything changes, and as DfE guidance continues to be updated, I will write to you as soon as possible as I have throughout this pandemic.

  • Responding to latest updates/news

Our current levels of infection are extremely low. Whereas in the past I may have implemented a mask wearing programme in order to stem rising infections, on this occasion I am doing this to keep infections low.

  • New variant: new DfE guidance

    Sun 28 Nov 2021

As we respond to a new wave of DfE guidance & continue to work to keep everyone as safe as possible - reducing the possibility of transmission of a new variant - we strongly encourage the wearing of face coverings as a preventive measure outside at drop off/pick up times too; a sensible precaution where social distancing is difficult - to help keep our children (and staff) as safe as possible.

If you’re not wearing a face covering, please remember to respectfully adhere to social distancing (the 2m rule): being considerate of others having to walk past to the school gates. Measures like this could help lower the chance of transmission of a new variant identified in the UK. Every little helps!

  • Omicron: Latest DfE guidance

    Sun 28 Nov 2021

Information for parents on new measures in response to the identification of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 in the UK…

On Saturday 27 November, the Prime Minister announced new temporary measures following the emergence of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 in the UK. The new measures will be introduced as a precaution to slow down the spread of the variant while we gather more information. We will continue to keep this under review as the situation develops.

    Face coverings

Face coverings should be worn in communal areas of the school by staff & visitors unless they are exempt.

We will provide face coverings to those who don’t have one.

    Testing

We continue to strongly encourage staff and students to test twice weekly using lateral flow device (LFD) tests on Wednesdays and Sundays.

    Contact tracing and isolation

The current guidance on contact tracing and isolation remains in place. In addition to these, any suspected or confirmed close contacts of the Omicron variant will be asked to isolate for 10 days regardless of vaccination status or age. You will be contacted directly and told to isolate.

If you’re looking for a local school near Newark for Reception starting September 2022 or you’re considering moving schools, visit Claypole Church of England Primary School.  We are a friendly and thriving village school in an attractive, rural location.  This is a school where children and adults have fun, work hard and achieve our very best.  We love sports, art and music and produce fantastic work.  You will hear much laughter and see smiling faces when you visit us, but you will also see good quality work in every part of our school.  All schools have their own distinctive ‘feel’ which makes each school unique.  We believe that the ‘special feel’ at Claypole Church of England Primary School is to do with our caring, friendly atmosphere.  Our school continues to develop in many exciting ways, providing high expectations and an even more enriching experience for our children.

Our Open Day will begin with a presentation by the Head teacher at 9:30 a.m. followed by a tour of the school led by some of our older children.  Refreshments will also be served in our hall.  We currently have spaces in each year group too. So we know how many we’re catering for, please phone (01636 626 268) or email (adminoffice@claypoleprimary.org) to let us know that you’re joining us on our Open Day.  Please spend a few moments browsing our school website (www.claypoleprimary.org) or Twitter (@ClaypolePrimary) to see a small sample of what we do.  We look forward to showing you around and talking to you about our school.
