  • Traffic whilst Rectory Lane is closed

    Mon 23 Jan 2023

Rectory Lane is closed until Monday 30th January 2023 meaning that the road around School Lane could become congested. Please consider parking at the Village Hall.  On behalf of our neighbours, please can we remind our school community that the adjacent road (Brunt’s Farm Close) is a private road and should not be used for parking or as a turning circle. Families are welcome to turn around safely in the car park outside of school.

The paths leading to/from our school are narrow with many grass verges and two sharp corners. Space on paths/verges is short because people are being mindful to keep 2m distances too. Please help us to keep our children safe by parking responsibly (keeping our neighbours driveways clear, corners clear and off the path) and driving slowly and carefully to and from school – especially around corners. There’s a lot to think about currently, but it’s imperative to keep our families safety at the forefront of minds when travelling to and from school.

The school does not have the power to dictate to parents at the school how they use the highway or other land which does not form part of the school's premises. Schools do not have a "parking policy" for parents; schools cannot police the behaviour of those whose children attend school but can only ask them and remind them to be considerate & courteous and make them aware of complaints received by the school.

Thank you for your support and thank you to everyone who drives carefully past school and who parks considerately around Claypole village – we know the vast majority of you do.

The safety and well-being of the children is paramount. If you have any traffic or parking concerns, can we please ask you to contact the Grantham Rural North Lincolnshire Police Team: https://www.lincs.police.uk/area/your-area/local-policing-team-contact/contact-your-local-policing-team/

  • NEU Strike Action

    Fri 20 Jan 2023

You may be aware from recent media reports that the teacher union NEU has declared strike action, which in our region will take place on:

 Wednesday, 1 February 2023: all eligible members in England and Wales.
 Wednesday, 1 March 2023: all eligible members in the following English regions: East Midlands, West Midlands, Eastern.
 Wednesday, 15 March 2023: all eligible members in England and Wales.
 Thursday, 16 March 2023: all eligible members in England and Wales.

I am writing to give you as much notice as possible of the likely impact of the action on our school.
While the planned action is as a result of a national dispute between the unions and the government, and not Claypole Church of England Primary School, it is important that the leadership team respond accordingly.

At this stage, we understand that a limited number of colleagues may be taking industrial action.

I have looked at the school timetable for that day to ensure we can still manage the safe supervision of pupils while minimising the impact on learning with potentially reduced staffing levels in place.

Therefore, as we currently stand, if the strike action goes ahead, our school can remain open as usual, however as staff are not legally obliged to inform the school of their intention to strike, this could change and of course I will write to you to keep you updated.
It appears unlikely that the proposed industrial action will be averted, but if this were to happen, I will contact you to confirm that the school will be open as usual.

If you have any questions or concerns about the above, please reach out.

  • Outdoor Learning

    Thu 12 Jan 2023

The children were out this week working together to solve rhyming- riddles to hunt for clues around the community park. Falcons club is on Thursday lunchtime & Eagles is on Friday lunchtime. The children were all well prepared for their activities... unlike me! Yes, they are plastic bags on my feet... couldn’t even find a matching pair!

  • Stone Age Spearheads

    Wed 11 Jan 2023

As part of the Falcon’s learning theme ‘Stone Age to Iron Age,’ the children experienced what it might be like to shape a spear head out of flint... using knives and a bar of soap!
The children’s spearheads looked great and the classroom smelt good too.

  • Lacrosse Club

    Tue 10 Jan 2023

Lacrosse Club for Year 3 and Year 4 started this week (Tuesday after school)… it’s never too late to join in!
