  • Head Lice

    Tue 10 Sep 2019

    There has been a recent outbreak of head lice and we would like to remind you how to detect and treat these creatures:

    Detection: Adult lice are usually pale in colour, the size of a sesame seed and live very close to the scalp. They have six legs and walk from one person to another when there is head to head contact.

    Eggs are cream/brown in colour and the size of a sugar grain. Nits are empty cases, white in colour and stick to the hair. Head lice do not cause any serious health problems, but if left untreated the lice will cause the scalp to itch and the lice may be passed on to other people. Head lice infection is present if an actual living, moving louse is found.

    Treatment: Twice weekly combing with a nit comb will help to prevent infestation developing.

    Comb your hair in the normal way every day and follow the wet combing method twice a week. Wash hair and leave wet, but not dripping; Massage a generous amount of conditioner into the hair; Comb hair to get rid of any tangles; Use a nit comb to comb through the hair in sections; Comb from the roots, ensuring that the comb touches the scalp to hair end; Any lice found should be removed after each stroke of the comb by wiping the comb on a clean tissue; Finish combing and rinse hair;

  • Welcome Back!

    Wed 04 Sep 2019

    Welcome back to the start of the new school year and welcome to all our new starters. We hope you’ve had a lovely summer. How time flies! It is great to welcome the children back after the break and lovely to see their smart new uniforms & how they have grown over the six weeks!

    Our new Reception children have made a fabulous start to school life and the rest of the children are settling really well into the routines of their new classes and adjusting to the expectations of their new teachers.

    We want to continue to make the school experience as enjoyable, successful and productive as possible for all our children. Curriculum overviews for each class will be available on our website.

    We are looking forward to continuing a productive partnership with you to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential. We recognise that in order to be successful, out children need support from both home and school. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we do our very best to carry out our responsibilities. We ask that you guide and support your child/ren’s learning by ensuring that he/she:

    1. Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day’s learning experience;
    2. Completes all homework assignments given by teachers;
    3. Reads regularly to develop a love for reading & to improve literacy skills;
    4. Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of their school life;
    5. Knows that we all have their best interest for them and we all want them to do well.

    Please consider coming along to our PTA meetings, events, workshops etc as our school, can greatly benefit from your involvement and contributions. During the year, we also seek volunteers to help us with reading, trips, swimming and other exciting activities and events in school. The wonderful Claypole staff and I feel privileged to be part of this school family; we thank you for your support and look forward to another successful year this year.
