Our Pupil Parliament and Reading Champions are inviting the children to come to school dressed as ‘something out of a book’ to help celebrate ‘World Book Day’ on Thursday 2nd March. The children have suggested dressing up as a character from a book but are also conscious that they don’t want families going out and buying costumes when they could be going out and buying books instead, so have also suggested children can come dressed up as a word from a book. The more unusual and creative the better!
The hotly contested Claypole classic: ‘The Annual Pancake Race’ returns this week (Wednesday 22nd February at 9:15am). The children are invited to come to school with a pancake and a pan to take part in the fun.
Each year group will be arranged into ‘heats’ with an overall winner per year group being decided. Then, with staggered starts for each year group, a whole school final will be ran for a chance to win the Claypole Wooden Pancake Spoon! As the children are running in year groups, younger siblings can share frying pans if needed.
We hope some of you will be able to make it to watch too. It doesn't look like the tennis nets are coming down anytime soon; therefore if you can make it, spectators will be asked to support us from the righthand side of the tennis nets as you enter the MUGA. The children will be seated on the left side (nearest the entrance) and will be racing across the width of the tennis courts.
