Research shows that 1200 children a month are involved in collisions within 500m of the school gates. ‘School run’ child casualties, defined as accidents occurring between 7.30 and 8.58am and 3.00 and 4.59pm, accounted for roughly one third of all child casualties in the year. Of the 6645 school run casualties, 804 were deaths or serious injuries.
The paths leading to/from our school are narrow with many grass verges and two sharp corners. Space on paths/verges is short because people are being mindful to keep 2m distances too. Please help us to keep our children safe by parking responsibly (keeping our neighbours driveways clear, corners clear and off the path) and driving slowly and carefully to and from school – especially around corners. There’s a lot to think about currently, but it’s imperative to keep our families safety at the forefront of minds when travelling to and from school.
Thank you for your support and thank you to everyone who drives carefully past school and who parks considerately around Claypole village – we know the vast majority of you do.
The safety and well-being of the children is paramount. If you have any traffic or parking concerns, can we please ask you to contact PCSO Barbara Mooney: https://www.lincs.police.uk/contact/policestations/police-stations/long-benningtonpolice-office/
