Welcome to The Bluebirds!

Reception Class

Our topic this term is 'All About Me'.

We are looking forward to learning all about ourselves and each other, we will be learning how to care and share with one another and will be producing our own set of class rules which we all agree to. The children will be learning about what makes them special and different to their friends and that they have their own likes and dislikes. Please look at the Curriculum Overview to see all of the other learning opportunities the children will experience throughout the topic this term.

Key Information

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) has it's own curriculum specifically designed for young children and supports their learning and healthy development. Your child will be learning skills, acquiring new knowledge and demonstrating their understanding through 7 areas of learning and development:

Communication and language

Physical development

Personal, social and emotional development

Literacy

Mathematics

Understanding the world

Expressive arts and design

These 7 areas are used to plan your child’s learning and activities. This is similar to the curriculum in primary and secondary schools, but it's suitable for very young children.  It is designed to be flexible so that staff can follow the individual needs and interests of our children and allows children to learn through immersion, exploration, being active and through creative and critical thinking which takes place both indoors and in our outdoor learning environment
