Welcome to the Bluebirds class!
Summer Term - I'm not scared!
Our Theme in Reception this term is 'I'm not scared, the children will focus on the curious and fascinating world of creepy crawlies and winged wonders that we collectively refer to as minibeasts. The children will also be exploring different materials that everyday objects can be made from and sorting them by their properties. They will investigate which objects float and sink and explain why this might be.
PE days are Tuesdays and Thursdays, please make sure that your child has the correct PE kit (including warm layers as we will be outside as much as possible). Please ensure that your child's PE kit is named! On Tuesday the children will work with an athletics coach to help develop their understanding of playing games. They will practise and further develop fundamental movement skills through games. On Thursday we will practise country dancing in readiness for the summer fayre and we will also be learning how to play different games. Children will continue to develop fine and gross motor skills, through handling equipment, weaving and writing.
Please take a look at the Curriculum Letter and Termly Overview to see the other learning opportunities the children will experience throughout this half term.
Homework will be sent home with the children which will consist of learning the new sounds taught and practising letter formation these sheets do not need to be returned to school. However, it would be useful if you could send the plastic wallet each day.
We are really excited about welcoming you all back and looking forward to all the fun we will have together during our Summer term in reception.
