Welcome to the Bluebirds class!
BOXES!
Our theme in Reception for the Spring is 'BOXES' where the children will be using their imagination and learning about the world.
Some of the key questions for this theme will be:
What do you like/dislike?
What makes you special?
Why is family important to you?
What makes a good friend?
What makes you feel happy?
PE/Sport is twice a week; please make sure that your child has the correct PE kit (including warm layers as we will be outside as much as possible). Please ensure that your child's PE kit is named! In PE, we will practise and develop fundamental movement skills and in Sport we will be 'boxercising' - this is an exercise concept based on the training methods used by boxers (and not boxing itself) - really good for fitness. Children will also be developing fine and gross motor skills, through handling equipment, weaving and writing.
Please take a look at the Key Class Information, Curriculum Letter and Termly Overview to see the other learning opportunities the children will experience throughout this half term.
Homework will be sent home with the children which will consist of learning the new sounds taught and practising letter formation these sheets do not need to be returned to school. However, it would be useful if you could send the plastic wallet each day.
We are really excited about welcoming all our new children to their reception class and look forward to all the fun we will have together during our Spring term in reception.
