Welcome to the Robins ~ Let’s get messy!
Welcome back after the half term holiday. We have been on an amazing school visit to Lakeside Art Gallery, where we were 'Art Investigators' and found out about the artist Matisse. In the morning we explored painting with scissors to make cut outs and learnt about the colour wheel and how to choose contrasting and harmonising colours. In the afternoon we went outside with the forest school ranger and glued leaves, twigs, pinecones and other natural materials to create monsters! After that we used clay to make our own leaf fossils and made journey sticks. We are going to use the journey sticks back at school to help us to sequence our very exciting day and write a recount. Thank you to all the parent helpers who helped us to have a fun and memorable day!
We are carrying on with our Muck, Mess and Mixtures topic this half term and will be using and developing many of the skills we explored during our gallery visit and forest school experience and have got more messy activities planned. We will also be learning about toys and we will be asking the children to bring in one of their favourite toys to look at and to see what it is made out of and how it works. Later on we will be finding out about toys from the past and would like it if any parents or grandparents have any toys from their past that they would like to share with us. I will send a letter out shortly with more information and details.
I am looking forward to the run up to Christmas with my super Year 1 class!

We aim to change reading books twice a week, usually on Tuesdays and Fridays and have some parent helpers to listen to readers. If you would like to listen to readers or help in the classroom, please let me know.
Homework will be set on Fridays and can be handed in anytime during the week, before the following Friday.
If you have any questions or concerns please pop to the school office or make an appointment and I will be able to sort out any worries that you have.
