Welcome to The Bluebirds!
Our topic for our first term back is 'Bright Lights, Big City'.
We had a very exciting first day back as we had a royal tea party with The Queen herself where we made cucumber sandwiches, jam tarts and we even decorated our own cakes. We then got the opportunity to ask Her Majesty lots of different questions about her birthdays, what she does and all about her family.
We are looking forward to learning lots more about the royal family and all about London. Please look at the Curriculum Overview to see all of the other learning opportunities the children will experience throughout the topic this term.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) has it's own curriculum specifically designed for young children and supports their learning and healthy development. Your child will be learning skills, acquiring new knowledge and demonstrating their understanding through 7 areas of learning and development:
Communication and language
Personal, social and emotional development
Understanding the world
Expressive arts and design
These 7 areas are used to plan your child’s learning and activities. This is similar to the curriculum in primary and secondary schools, but it's suitable for very young children. It is designed to be flexible so that staff can follow the individual needs and interests of our children and allows children to learn through immersion, exploration, being active and through creative and critical thinking which takes place both indoors and in our outdoor learning environment
